Zimbabwe’s rollout of the Online Border Management System (OBMS) is gaining momentum, with e-gates now installed at the country’s major ports of entry.
The OBMS has streamlined visa processing through an upgraded e-visa platform and introduced automated e-gates to speed up traveler clearance at border points.
In a statement to Tourism Live, the Department of Immigration confirmed the deployment of Seven e-gates have been deployed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, one at Victoria Falls Airport, two at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Airport, and four at the busy Beitbridge Border Post.
“OBMS has brought easy accessibility and faster processing of visas via the e-visa platform, along with quicker clearance for travellers through the use of e-gates.The e-gates have significantly reduced long queues,’’ the Department said.
Launched in January, the OBMS is now fully operational for online visa applications, offering greater convenience to international visitors.
The system is designed to improve efficiency for both travellers and immigration officials, while also enhancing security and service delivery.
This project marks a major step forward in Zimbabwe’s commitment to modernising its tourism infrastructure and delivering a seamless travel experience.
